COPPA Compliance

    Last updated: January 1, 2026

Ludooka is designed from the ground up to comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA)

    What is COPPA?

The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) is a United States federal law designed to protect the privacy of children under 13 years old. It places requirements on websites and online services that collect personal information from children.

As a children's educational app, Ludooka takes COPPA compliance extremely seriously. We go beyond the minimum requirements to ensure your child's privacy and safety.

    Our Key Protections

    Verifiable Parental Consent

We obtain verifiable parental consent before collecting any personal information from children

    Minimal Data Collection

We only collect information that is strictly necessary to provide our educational service

    Parental Access & Control

Parents can review, modify, or delete their child's information at any time

    Data Deletion Rights

Parents can request complete deletion of their child's data at any time

    Information We Collect from Children

With verified parental consent, we collect only the following information about children:

    • First name - Used to personalize stories and the app experience
    • Age range - Used to provide age-appropriate content
    • Reading preferences - Used to recommend suitable stories
    • Photo (optional) - Used only to create illustrated character versions for stories; parents can opt out or delete at any time
    • Reading progress - Used to track educational achievements
    • Vocabulary learned - Used for personalized learning

    What We DON'T Do

    • We do NOT display advertising to children
    • We do NOT sell or share children's data with third parties
    • We do NOT enable children to publicly share personal information
    • We do NOT allow children to communicate with strangers
    • We do NOT use behavioral tracking for advertising purposes
    • We do NOT condition participation on collecting more data than necessary

    Parental Consent Process

Before any child profile is created, we require:

    1. A parent or guardian to create an adult account with a verified email address
    2. Explicit consent to our privacy practices during child profile creation
    3. Acknowledgment that the account holder is the parent or legal guardian

For optional features like photo uploads, we provide additional consent mechanisms and clear explanations of how the data will be used.

    Parental Rights

As a parent or guardian, you have the right to:

    • Review the personal information we've collected about your child
    • Request deletion of your child's personal information
    • Refuse to allow further collection or use of your child's information
    • Modify your child's profile information at any time
    • Delete uploaded photos at any time
    • Export your child's data in a portable format

These actions can be performed directly in your account settings or by contacting our support team.

We maintain strict security measures to protect children's data:

    • All data is encrypted in transit and at rest
    • Access to children's data is strictly limited to essential personnel
