    Questions and answers

Plain answers about books, accounts and how Ludooka works.

    For families

    What is Ludooka?

Ludooka is a place for families to read children鈥檚 books and for makers to offer them. The company is based in Delft, the Netherlands.

    Can I read before joining?

Yes. Open the free book preview to read its first three pages without an account.

Do I need an account to browse books?

No. Browse the public catalogue first. An account is needed for your library.

    Is every book finished?

No. A book with no finished pages is marked coming soon. Check the book page before choosing it.

Can I read on a phone?

Yes. The reading view can open on a phone, tablet or computer.

Can I listen to a book?

Some books support listening. The language and voice depend on that book.

Can I change the reading language?

You can choose from the languages available for that book. Not every book has every language.

Can my child practise a word?

In the reading app, a child can save a word to practise later.

Do I have to buy a plan to read?

A plan is not needed to open the public preview. Other books may have their own prices or access conditions.

    Do credits pay for reading?

No. Turning pages in a book you can access does not use credits.

    What are credits for?

Credits pay for some book making steps that cost money, such as a new translation.

How is the number of credits decided?

Credits pay for the parts that cost money to make, like a new translation, a new picture or a voice. You are always shown an estimate before anything starts, and you are charged for what was made. Reading never costs credits. If a run stops because you are out of credits, what was already made is kept and you can carry on when you top up.

How much does a book cost?

Look at the public book page for a recorded price. Some titles are free and some are coming soon.

What if the price is not shown?

Do not assume a price. Sign in or contact the team before you decide to pay.

    Can I cancel a subscription?

You can cancel through your account. Check the terms and refund policy for the conditions that apply to a payment.

    How do refunds work?

Refunds depend on the purchase and the applicable terms. Read the refund policy before paying.

    Are children鈥檚 details public?

A child鈥檚 reading and saved words are not public profile information. Read the privacy and children鈥檚 notices for details.

Can I make a private character?

The app has a saved character feature. Check the available book options before ordering a personalised copy.

    Does every book have illustrations?

No. Some books have text only pages while illustrations are pending. Check the book page.

    Who makes the books?

Books have credited authors and, when applicable, illustrators and translators. Open a book page to see its accepted credits.

    Where is Ludooka based?
